While you have a responsibility to speak up and report genuine concerns, we recognise that this can be a difficult step to take.

Please remind yourself of what whistleblowing does and does not cover, alongside other frequently asked questions and information below. We ask you to read this thoroughly before making your report. Please consider whether your concern is something that can be addressed through other processes.

If there is an immediate threat to life or property, you should emergency services via 999. Personal or legal disputes should not be reported through Safecall.

Safecall can be used to report concerns relating to (not an exhaustive list):

  • Malpractice, fraud, bribery or corruption.
  • Other criminal offences or illegal acts.
  • Conduct that has endangered, or is likely to endanger, the health and safety of an individual.
  • Violation of competition laws and rules.
  • Improper use of company resources.
  • Disclosure of confidential information.
  • Conduct that has damaged, or is likely to damage, the environment.
  • Concealment of information relating to any of the above.

Safecall should NOT be used to report concerns relating to:

  • An immediate threat to life or property: If emergency assistance is required please contact the appropriate emergency services.
  • Personal grievances such as bullying, harassment, discrimination or grievances concerning your employment terms or performance management. These should be reported under the grievance guide or relevant HR policy.
  • Personal or legal disputes.
  • Accusations which you know are false. Doing so may lead to disciplinary measures for LHCPG colleagues.
  • Specific health and safety incidents which you may report by informing your line manager.

Malicious or vexatious reports

Safecall should not be used to make knowingly malicious or vexatious reports. Colleagues could find themselves subject to disciplinary action if this website is knowingly used for such activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My concern is related to bullying, harassment or other grievance. What should I do?

Personal issues or grievances should be reported to your line manager in the first instance. If LHCPG colleagues do not consider that the outcome has been satisfactory you can report to the LHCPG People and Culture team.

My concern is Related to Health and Safety. What should I do?

Close calls and individual Health and Safety incidents should be reported to your line manager.

Can I raise concern anonymously?

All reports will be treated as strictly confidential.

Anonymous

If you do not want to provide your identity to Safecall or LHCPG, provide as much detail as you can without disclosing information which may reveal your identity.

It is also important to note that anonymous reports can be difficult to investigate.

Be as specific as you can with any detail provided including information such as the dates and times that these events occurred, who was involved, were there any witnesses that could corroborate this, what locations, what exactly happened, what are the impacts, and if known provide a motive. Additionally, if you use the Safecall portal to report, the internal investigation team will use the portal to obtain further information where needed to progress an investigation. As a reporter you must therefore regularly check the portal to understand if any further information is required.

Semi Anonymous

You agree to provide your identity to Safecall but you do not want this to be shared with LHCPG. Safecall may contact you using the details you have provided.

Please provide as much detail as you can without disclosing information which may reveal your identity.

Named

You agree that your identity can be shared with LHCPG by Safecall.

Please note for Safecall reports our preference is for named or semi anonymous reports. This enables a more comprehensive investigation by requesting and obtaining more information where more clarity is needed.

What happens when I make a report?

Once you have submitted a report the application will provide you with an activation link. Using this link will allow you to set your password. You will then be able to login to your account. For anonymous cases we’ll also generate a username to enable you to login.

After two working days please login to your account to check your report for feedback or further questions.

Once submitted you will have 8 hours to activate your account. Please contact Safecall if you have any issues. 

How will my concern be shared with LHCPG

The information you provide and agree that we can share will be sent to an independent incident handling process team in your organisation who will decide on the most appropriate course of action.

 How will I receive updates about and find out about the outcomes of my report?

If you use the Safecall portal to report, the internal investigation team will use the portal to obtain further information where needed to progress an investigation. As a reporter you must therefore regularly check the portal to understand if any further information is required

You will receive updates about your report by logging in to the portal and reaching out to your organisation via the messaging functionality. Your anonymity will be upheld if you using the messaging functionality within the portal

How will I find out the outcomes of my report?
