Aim

The aim of this course is to:

• Develop skill and understanding of the investigative process
• Examine theoretical concepts, legislation, and procedures
• Enable delegates to apply knowledge to workplace investigations
• Improve confidence when carrying out investigations

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Understand and apply general legislation and procedures relevant to the conduct of investigations
• Analyse and interpret the relevant legislative and procedural issues in a specific work based investigation
• Evaluate the principles and practices of investigation planning
• Develop a methodology to undertake planning for a range of investigations
• Manage, gather, maintain and record evidence in a stated range of investigation settings
• Review and apply a range of interviewing strategies
• Undertake a range of investigative interviews

• The role and responsibilities of the investigator
• The legal framework
• The importance of ethical and transparent investigations
• Disclosure
• Decision making, record keeping and terms of reference
• Gathering, securing, and preserving evidence
• Investigative strategy and policy
• Practical exercises and case studies

Who Should Attend?

This Level 3 BTEC course has been specifically developed for individuals who wish to gain a formal qualification.

The course is aimed at senior managers, managers, HR professionals, and any person who may be required to carry out interviews or investigations on behalf of their organisation.

Delegates undertaking this course of study are required to submit work for formal assessment and undertake studies outside of the classroom prior to, and after the course.

The course is delivered over an intense three day programme.
